Big brother Donald Dion
known affectionately as "Big D"

Most fans don't know much about our oldest brother, Donald, other than that he can be a "wild man" during a crisis at the track.  In our minds he is capable of fixing anything at anytime.  I know everyone likes a challenge now and then but Donald takes it to a new level.  There is a sign above his work bench at his own business (Deco inc.) that reads "to hell with can't". That is the insight to his soul.  From the time he was a little boy he had to know what made something work  by taking it apart and usually redesigning it in some way to make it better.  I sometimes wonder what gave him such an engineering mind and today still marvel at his ability and determination.

What was he like as a brother when we were growing up?  Well!  Going to basic training in the Army was like a weekend pass compared to having a big brother like Donald.  Ha!  Hey!  All my other brothers would tell you the same thing.  As most people know, I tend to follow the easiest path in life and hard work, sacrifice, and discipline are fine for some people but I would rather not. As a matter of fact, all my brothers are quite different and without a big brother like Donald to steer the ship I'm not sure we could have survived during the hard times as a family.  I guess all of us are grateful for always having Donald in our lives as a brother and a team member.

As good as Paul and Roger are at designing and building our race cars, nothing goes very far without consulting with "Big D" for approval or help. Donald tends to look at every problem and challenge as an opportunity to put some of himself into the race car versus just writing a check to make the problem go away.  If I had to list what part of the race car Donald is responsible for I would say all of it.  We all still consider him our big brother and look up and to him both on and off the track.

Driving and working with my brothers can get heated at times as many people have witnessed at the track but our love and respect for each other should never be questioned. I am proud of my part as a member of the team but even prouder of "The Dion Brothers Team" as a whole.

In closing, all of the team would like to thank Donald and his wife Lucille for their contributions and sacrifices to "Dion Team" and it's success for over forty years of service.
