The Dion Brothers Racing Team

The Dion Brothers Racing team is a family operation.  Dave and his brothers are the core of the team, and over the years have been joined by wives, girl friends, daughters, sons, in-laws, friends, sponsors and even strangers who just want to help out. 

Dave Dion - Driver of the #29 Berlin City / Continental Paving Taurus.  Mention New England short track racing, and Dave's is the first name mentioned. Dave's years of experience and many accomplishments in racing make him one of the most respected names in racing.

Paul Dion - Chassis specialist. One of the most respected chassis specialist in the Northeast, Paul provides the winning setup and design for the Dion Brothers stable. Paul is also the rear tire changer during pit-stops.

Roger Dion - Crew chief. As crew chief, Roger's countless hours of work , preparation and guidance before and during race day are evident as the #29 car takes to the track. Roger is also the front tire changer during pit stops.

Donald Dion - Team engineer. Donald's work as the team engineer is never done. One minute he can be seen tearing apart the steering pump and then soldering antennas together for the team radios. Donald is there to help solve any problem. He also serves as jack man or gas man at the larger tracks.

Deanna Welch - Team manager.  Whether it be behind the scenes work at the shop or visible contributions on race day, Deanna is responsible for scheduled maintenance, record keeping, and coordinating team responsibilities. She also is the front tire carrier when necessary.


Beverly Dion - Scoring. Bev's contributions to the team are numerous.  On race day she helps with tire temperatures and pressures during practice, and is the chief scorer who keeps track of Dave's forward progress on the track.


Mike Duffy - Maintenance & tire carrier. Mike assists with general maintenance and preparation of the #29 ranging from gear and oil changes to safety wiring essential components of the car.  Mike also serves as tire carrier when necessary.

Steve Giles - Body specialist. Hardly a week goes by when there isn't a part of the #29 that needs to be ironed out or repainted.  Steve takes great pride in his work and the appearance of the Berlin City / Continental Paving Taurus.


Jack Heptig - Fabricator. Meticulous and detail-oriented are words that describe Jack.  His hours in the garage during the week are spent fabricating anything from fenders to shields. He also helps in the pits during the race.


Paul Leonard - Maintenance & spotter.  During the week, Paul helps in the car with general maintenance and preparation.  On race day, he serves as spotter and sometimes fills in as jack man.


Mike Sherman - Maintenance & auto body.  Mike spends many hours during the week with Steve getting the car back into shape in terms of bodywork.  Mike fills in as jack man during practice and helps during pit stops.


Keith Smith - Fabricator & mechanic. Keith's years of racing experience pay off in the garage and at the track;  his fabricating and mechanical skills are an asset to the team.  Keith also serves as tire carrier during pit stops. Keith

Joe Soucy - Transport Driver. As the hauler driver, Joe is one of the first team members to leave, and the last to arrive home. Joe can be counted on to arrive safely at the track VERY early and also helps with race preparations and pit stops.
